The Final Four is set.

But college basketball’s transfer portal is, in a word, chaos.

Nearly 1,500 players have entered the portal since it opened one week ago. And while college hoops fans were focused on the Elite Eight this weekend, we were focused on the portal.

Here, we have gathered the latest news and storylines from a very busy weekend in the portal: New players who have entered, what players are interested in what schools (and vice versa), recruiting visits, commitments and more.

Nevada Transfer Cuts List Down to Top-Five

Since announcing his intentions to transfer from Nevada on March 17, 6-foot-10 redshirt junior forward Nick Davidson has revealed that he will be deciding between five remaining schools. Clemson, Notre Dame, Texas, Washington and Virginia are all reported to be involved with Davidson visiting new Cavaliers coach Ryan Odom over the weekend.

However, his longtime high school teammate, 6-foot-10 senior forward Wilhelm Breidenbach is on the roster at Washington and will surely be pushing Davidson’s commitment to the Huskies.

UCLA Transfer Announces Meetings with Nation’s Top Programs

Sebastian Mack, a 6-foot-3 sophomore guard, may have only officially entered the transfer portal on Saturday but the former top-100 prospect already has multiple high majors interested. In addition to speaking with Oklahoma, Missouri, Florida State, Tennessee and San Diego State via Zoom this week, programs like Texas, Louisville and St. John’s are involved.

Out of Coronado High School in Nevada, Mack took official visits to both Oklahoma and Florida State which might give the Sooners and Seminoles the early edge in his transfer recruitment.

Former North Dakota Standout Commits to South Carolina

After fielding interest from top programs across the country including Kentucky, Michigan, Kansas, Alabama and others, 6-foot-6 junior guard Treysen Eaglestaff is heading to South Carolina. In a standout season for North Dakota, the 2024-25 all-conference second team selection averaged 18.9 points per game and erupted for 51 points in a quarterfinal win at the Summit League Championship.

ASun All-Freshman Honoree Receives Interest From a Dozen High Majors

Averaging 13.4 points and 7.1 rebounds per game this season, 6-foot-8 freshman forward Josh Harris was honored as one of the ASun’s top freshmen at North Florida before entering the portal. He has already been contacted by a dozen high-major programs such as Kansas State, Xavier, Rutgers, Vanderbilt and even a few mid-majors like UNC-Wilmington and Grand Canyon.

A native of Pembroke Pines, Fla., Harris will have an opportunity to stay local with UCF and coach Johnny Dawkins reportedly looking to bring him to the Big 12.

George Washington Transfer Earning High Major Interest

A former three-star recruit, 6-foot-7 redshirt sophomore forward Darren Buchanan Jr. started his career at Virginia Tech before transferring to George Washington in 2023 where he earned an all-freshman award. Following a solid sophomore season, he’s currently in the portal and receiving interest from schools like Rutgers, Mississippi State, Providence, Butler and New Mexico State.

But after a year in which his production dropped in more of a reserve role for the Revolutionaries, Towson’s interest presents an opportunity to stay local and prove himself at the mid-major level again.

Iowa State Earns a Commitment From Former Four-Star Recruit

Following an official visit to Ames last week, 6-foot-11 sophomore forward Blake Buchanan officially declared his commitment to Iowa State and coach T.J. Otzelberger. The former top-100 prospect averaged just 5.4 points and 5.3 rebounds per game this season at Virginia but had reportedly received interest from multiple high-majors based on his pedigree.

Iowa Transfer Takes an Official Visit to Illinois and Indiana

Iowa’s Josh Dix, a 6-foot-5 freshman guard is beginning to narrow his list. After visiting Illinois and coach Brad Underwood, he’ll visit Indiana and new coach Darian DeVries this week. With sources suggesting that Dix plans to stay close to home (Council Bluffs, Iowa), Kansas and Creighton also in the mix while the Blue Jays were a favorite to sign the former four star prospect out of high school.

CAA’s Leading Scorer has Heard From a Plethora of High Majors

Abdi Bashir Jr., a 6-foot-7 sophomore wing who is leaving Monmouth, is receiving NBA attention after leading the CAA with 20.1 points per game. But before he embarks on a professional career we’ll likely see Bashir transfer up a level to test his skills within the high major ranks. Some of the biggest programs in the country have already reached out including Alabama, Arkansas, Kansas, Kentucky, Michigan, UCLA, Mississippi and more.

Bashir is originally from Omaha, Neb. but spent time at PPH Prep in Phoenix, Ariz. With Arizona State interested a move across the country is potential destination for Bashir.

All-Summit League Selection Narrows to his Final Two Visits

Though 6-foot-11 senior forward Oscar Cluff struggled playing at Washington State in the Pac-12, a move down to South Dakota State saw him flourish, averaging 17.6 points and 12.3 rebounds per game. The Sunshine Coast, Australia native reportedly visited Purdue’s campus this weekend before making his way to Iowa State. However, with Buchanan’s commitment to the Cyclones (mentioned above) will that push Cluff to Purdue?

Don’t count out a program like Stanford as well if Cluff takes a while to announce his decision. Practically the entire coaching staff that recruited him to Washington State followed coach Kyle Smith to Stanford when he took the job last offseason which makes it an easy fit.

Robert Morris Transfer Plans Official Visits

Amarion Dickerson, a 6-foot-7 junior wing, was integral in Robert Morris’ dream run to the 2025 NCAA Tournament. He was selected as the Horizon League Defensive Player of the Year and to the all-conference second team. Dickerson entered the portal on March 24 and has taken a visit to USC. He is planning to travel to Kansas State and has received interest from the likes of Cincinnati, Louisville, Oklahoma, Syracuse and more.
