ROCK HILL, S.C. — The July live period was in full swing this past weekend with all the summer AAU circuits in action. College coaches from around the country were in attendance to watch basketball’s future stars, and Hoops HQ was right there with them.
Over the weekend, we were able to head to Cartersville, Georgia, to take in some Under Armour action, and we finished out the weekend at the 3SSB Championships in Rock Hill, South Carolina. Who were some of the players that shined? Today, we’ll go over four names from each circuit to keep an eye on, as well as provide an update on their recruitment. Let’s dive in!
Quinn Costello, 6-foot-10 forward, Middlesex Magic UAA
The 6-foot-10 power forward out of the Newman School in Boston is one of the biggest stock-risers of the summer. Costello was electric at NBPA Top 100 Camp and turned the heads of several coaches. It’s why his offer list has expanded to over 25 schools. Costello was mostly known as a shooter, but he’s really expanded his game to be a bit of a bruiser in the paint. This summer with Middlesex Magic, Costello has averaged 11.0 points and 6.3 rebounds while shooting 17-of-55 (31 percent) from 3-point range.
Middlesex will be one of the favorites to win the UAA finals in Chicago later this July, and that’s why Costello isn’t worried about his recruitment right now. He’s solely focused on winning a championship and will take the time to schedule visits and cut down his list after summer ball. Costello recently visited Boston College unofficially and took trips to Michigan and Michigan State last September. His additional offers include North Carolina, Purdue, Stanford, Texas and many more. The programs Hoops HQ saw courtside for Costello in Georgia included Michigan (Dusty May), Michigan State, North Carolina, Tennessee and Texas.

Gage Mayfield, 6-foot-7 guard/forward, Pro One UAA
A four-star prospect out of Hale County, Alabama, Mayfield is your classic tweener. He moves like a guard and has guard-like abilities, but he’s 6-foot-7 with long arms, making him a perfect modern day wing.
His frame and skill has led him to a successful summer with Pro One, averaging 11.3 points and 4.8 rebounds. While his shooting still needs some work, Mayfield is a high-flyer and good finisher at the basket. When his shot comes along, he’ll be really tough to guard.
Mayfield took an official visit to Tennessee in late June and has another visit scheduled to Florida State on Aug. 30. He said he’s setting up a visit to Miami and the other schools involved include Alabama, Auburn, Clemson, Louisville, LSU, Maryland, Providence, Vanderbilt and Virginia Tech.
Jayden Hodge, 6-foot-6 forward, NJ Shoreshots UAA
Recently, Hodge transferred from St. Rose in New Jersey to national powerhouse Montverde Academy. He said he wanted to play against the best of the best, and now he’ll have that opportunity playing EYBL scholastic.
The top-50 prospect is a do-it-all wing who scores at all three levels and defends positions one-through-four. He’s known for his versatility and has showcased it for NJ Shoreshots this summer, averaging 16.8 points and 8.0 rebounds while shooting 55 percent from the field. He is also a member of Belgium’s national team.
On the recruitment front, Hodge has recently taken unofficial visits to Georgetown and Northwestern in June. He has official visits to Northwestern and Villanova set for this fall and said others schools to reach out include Penn State, Vanderbilt, VCU and Virginia. Hodge’s brother, Matthew, is currently on Villanova’s basketball roster. Villanova and Northwestern were both spotted courtside to watch Hodge play in Georgia.
Dylan Mingo Shines at Top 100 Camp. Where Will He and Other Top Recruits Play in College?
The NBPA Top 100 Camp showcased dozens of the nation’s top high school players. Here’s the inside scoop on how they did, and where they might be headed.
Kevin Thomas, 6-foot-7 forward, SOH Elite UAA
The 6-foot-7 small forward out of Sagemont Prep in Fort Lauderdale, Fla., just switched AAU programs to SOH Elite from Nightrydas Elite on the EYBL circuit. In his first game, Thomas scored 12 points with three assists and three steals. He’ll be looking to continue developing chemistry with his teammates heading into the UAA Finals in Chicago later this month.
Thomas is known for his leaping ability, and he often makes athletic plays that leave you speechless. He’s also shown the ability to knock down shots from the outside, and with his athleticism, he has the capability to be a high-level defender at the next level.
The four-star has upcoming official visits to Florida State in August and Auburn in September. He’s also working on setting up a trip with Miami. He named Georgia Tech, Tennessee and UCLA as other programs involved. Florida State’s head coach Luke Loucks was spotted courtside for Thomas in Cartersville. I’d classify the Seminoles as the team to beat right now.
Davion Adkins, 6-foot-9 center, Southern Assault 3SSB
The big news for Adkins recently was his transfer to powerhouse program Prolific Prep in Florida. The 6-foot-9 center with a wingspan over seven feet joins a loaded group there and said he’s excited for what’s ahead.
As for this summer, Adkins has been a beast for Southern Assault, averaging 13.1 points and 4.9 rebounds. The top-30 prospect is a load to deal with in the paint, and he’s starting to expand his game to the perimeter. Adkins said when that part of his game shapes out, he’ll be “unguardable.”
Adkins has set up official visits to Rutgers in September and TCU the first weekend of October. The other schools involved include Auburn, Houston, Indiana, LSU, Kansas, Texas, UCLA. All of those schools besides Auburn, LSU, Rutgers, TCU and UCLA had its head coach out to watch Adkins in Rock Hill.

Kevin Savage III, 5-foot-9 guard, Game Elite 3SSB
Savage is a rising junior, but he’s been playing up with the 17s all summer. If you went to watch a game, you wouldn’t notice. The top-40 prospect fits right in and has been a top performer for Game Elite game after game.
As a point guard, Savage is mostly known for his playmaking. He’s had some dimes at 3SSB that leave you asking: how the heck did he make that pass? It’s still early, but Savage is looking like the best true point and passer in his class. But don’t let that fool you. He can score it too, often pulling up from the mid-range or attacking the basket. He had 12 points and two assists to help Game Elite win the 3SSB title against D1 Minnesota.
Right now, Savage’s offer list includes Alabama, Auburn, Cincinnati, Dayton, Georgia, Georgia Tech, LSU, Ole Miss, Oklahoma State, Purdue, SMU, UCF, USF and VCU. He additionally told Hoops HQ that Iowa, New Mexico State, Ohio State, Sacramento State, Virginia and Virginia Tech have reached out since the contact period opened June 15.
Billy White III, 6-foot-7 forward, ASAK 3SSB
It’s going to be a busy fall for White on the recruitment front, and it’s been a busy summer so far for him as well. The 6-foot-7 forward from Veterans Memorial in Texas has shined on the 3SSB circuit for ASAK and has attended multiple camps, including NBPA Top 100 Camp.
The top-35 prospect describes himself as a shot-maker who can rebound well and guard multiple positions. This summer, White has averaged 13.8 points and 6.8 rebounds per game while shooting 31-of-85 (36.5 percent) from deep.
White has an extensive official visit list this fall: Virginia (Aug 28), SMU (Sept. 6), Oklahoma (Sept. 20-21), Oklahoma State (Sept. 28), TCU (Oct. 4-5), LSU (Oct. 11-12), Maryland (Oct. 18). White is also looking to set up a Kansas visit in mid-August and has been hearing from Kentucky. He said to expect a top schools list in the next couple weeks and he plans to commit in October.
Neiko Mundey, 6-foot-3 guard, New World 3SSB
One of the most electrifying guards in the 2026 class, Mundey, out of Prince George’s Christian Academy in Maryland, had a stockrising week at the 3SSB championships.
Mundey led his New World squad all the way to the Final Four before falling to D1 Minnesota by two points. The top-50 prospect scores from everywhere and really rises up on his jump shot, allowing him to shoot over taller defenders. He has averaged 20.1 points for New World so far this summer, which ranks No. 10 in 3SSB at the 17u level.
Mundey has set official visits to Pitt (Aug. 30), Mississippi State (Sept. 6) and Oklahoma State (Sept. 28). He’s previously taken unofficial visits to Alabama and Florida and said Texas Tech is another program involved. Mississippi State head coach Chris Jans and Oklahoma State head coach Steve Lutz were both spotted in Rock Hill to support Mundey, along with an assistant from Pitt. The guard hasn’t given any thought to his list cut or decision timelines.
