Georgia Tech is parting ways with coach Damon Stoudamire, according to a report from ESPN’s Pete Thamel and Jeff Borzello.
The Yellow Jackets ended the regular season on a 12-game losing streak, placing last in the ACC with a 2-16 record (11-20 overall). They lost to Clemson, 79-76, on Saturday at Littlejohn Coliseum.
During Stoudamire’s three seasons at the helm, Georgia Tech went 42-55 and never finished higher than eighth in the conference. The program has reached the NCAA Tournament just once since the 2009-10 campaign.
A former star guard at Arizona (1991-95) who played 13 years in the NBA, Stoudamire transitioned to coaching in 2008. He was hired by Georgia Tech in 2023 following two seasons as an assistant with the Boston Celtics. Prior to that, Stoudamire was the head coach at Pacific for five years, accumulating a 71-77 record. He also spent time as an assistant with the Memphis Grizzlies (2009-11), Memphis (2011-13; 2015-16) and Arizona (2013-15).
Per Stoudamire’s contract, Georgia Tech owes him $2.6 million over the next two years, a number that is subject to offset if he accepts another job.
